So tired this morning. Stayed up late to watch a TV show and then DS that consistent sleep was overrated most of the night. Someone bring me back my good sleeper!

Does anyone have a video baby monitor they're loving so far? I bought a new 2-camera Motorola camera and it sucks. The sound gets super quiet at random times until I turn the monitor off for awhile and then back on. Right now it's not terrible because we're only using it in DD's room but when we move DS to his crib, we need consistent sound.

I slept with the baby on my chest most of the night because it gets me the most sleep but not the most comfortable. We are still working on him sleeping on his back at night but he is only good for half hour stretches at a time.

piratecat, I used to do that with DD. In the early days, I did whatever would get me sleep. We need to work on getting DS to sleep flat on his back rather than in the RNP but I just can't deal with the short 10-15 min stretches of sleep yet.

I'm finally feeling more human after dealing with a nasty stomach flu since Friday...maybe I'll eat real food today and get this house pulled together...
For now I'll just sit her and nurse DD3 while catching up on a show :-)

sleepymonkey We have a Vtech video monitor with DS1 that we really like. The picture is super clear. I think it's called Safe and Sound but I'm not sure off the top of my head. AFM we're on the sleep struggle bus. DS2 hates to lay flat so it feels like we're just taking turns being up all night. I'm suspecting reflux or maybe he's just a crappy sleeper and I was very spoiled with DS1. Or maybe the pack and play isn't very comfortable because after H leaves for work I bring DS2 in with me (which I said I'd never do) and he sleeps just fine after that.

sleepymonkey please tell me it gets better? He does great during the day, we even put him down in his crib for a bit yesterday. It just takes so much time out of what precious little time we have between feedings to try and get him down at night, only to have to get up again in 15-30 minutes. We have the Infant Optics monitor and we like it so far but we haven't used it much. It has good reviews though.

Sorry to those struggling with lack of sleep! piratecat dd2 wouldn't sleep unless held for 6 weeks. So many sleepless nights and wearing during the day. I would love to say it got better but she didn't sleep through the night consistently until 22ish mo. However, we did find she liked sleeping on her belly. We had a snuza monitor (which we have loved with both girls and then I felt ok with it. We got some false alarms with full diapers but dd1 wore until 7ish months and she at least did longer stretches on her belly. Though I was hesitant at first, eventually I decided my sleep was important and ok since the snuza was on. I also co slept a lot and just kicked dh out of the bed. Whatever gets you sleep!

We had dd2 2 week check today. Up to 9lb 12oz. She was 8lb 11oz 10 days ago at weight check and 9lb 5oz at birth. Growing too fast already! Cleaning lady is here today (thank goodness), dd1 is at daycare and I may try to run a few errands before I pick her up.

We had our one month appointment today. Violet is 8 pounds and Lucas is 7 10! He needs to start physical therapy for his neck - no matter how hard we try to get him to face both ways when sleeping, he always turns his head to his left. We got our doctor's okay to prop him whenever we're awake. For sleep, we do mostly rock and plays with some PnP mixed in. We plan to transition to their cribs in the next month or so. sleepymonkey, we have a Samsung two camera monitor that works well. The only drawback is that it doesn't have an app, so we have to use the monitor. It has good range and works if we're outside.

piratecat, it got better for us around 2 months. All of a sudden, she was ok being put in her crib at night and would sleep well. She was always a terrible napper and had to be held or put on her belly on the couch for naps but I was just happy she would sleep at night. river, we had a Samsung monitor for DD and it still works after 3 1/2 years so we should've just gotten another one. But we wanted a 2-camera system and found the Motorola one at a good price. Now I think I know why it was so discounted.

piratecat, can the Infant Optics camera be mounted on the wall or does it need to sit on something?

piratecat mine sleeps best side lying nursing next to me, so we've been cosleeping too... she's noisy and restless even in the sidecar bassinet and even more so in the cradle in our room. I don't plan on even trying the crib until at least 3 mo. DS was a fall-asleep-while-nursing kid (which I think is beautiful, it just got old after a while since I had undersupply and he would always nurse for like 45 mins) and we finally did a touch of sleep training at 1 yr to get him to fall asleep without us walking him around or nursing. This one doesn't really do the fall asleep nursing thing, at lest not at night, and only takes 15 mins to eat so I feel like I'm learning sleep stuff all new again bc she's so different. I'm super ok with the cosleeping this time. I've actually read some research about how it's biologically normal and common in lots of cultures so that made me feel better about it, despite all the American "sleep on your back in your own space" take on it. Also we all just need some sleep...

We cosleep too. We put the crib up side car style to try and make it more comfortable this time but I usually don't dare move the sleeping baby!!

piratecat, can the Infant Optics camera be mounted on the wall or does it need to sit on something? Ours is mounted on the wall. I think it had a keyhole at the base and H just put a screw in the wall to hang it from.
