I don't even know what a nursing shield is for. Does it help with cracked nipples? My son's baby acne is bumming me out. He still looks super cute, but I wish it would go away! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk Ahh B has baby acne too and I feel the same way! Like his face is so perfect, I don't want anything to take away from it

The nipple shield does sound tempting but I'm already struggling to increase my supply. J has an appt next week to get evaluated for tongue tie and I'm really hoping that'll make a difference. Talk to your pedi or LC. I don't know what the affect will be if you are having low supply's already. I had/have supply issues, and DD has latch issues. The LC in the hospital gave us the shield because of latching. However, she had me pump 15 minutes after each feed and I believe that is recommended. She gave me literature to read on the shield, but I'll be honest and say I'm lazy so I didn't read it. I'm also taking Fenugreek 3 times a day to help with supply. FFFC: I let DS2 fuss while I was finishing my work out. He was just fussy, not angry or needing anything. No judgment here. With DD, I would pick her up the second she started fussing, no matter what I was doing. With DS, I let him fuss for a few minutes if I'm in the middle of something when I know it's just a "hold me" fuss. It has made me much more relaxed this time around.

O has done nothing but sleep and poop today. He just wakes up to eat and falls back asleep. I thought these days of being extra sleepy were through. I hope this doesn't mean he's going to be up all night because I have a cold and I really need sleep.

He's only catnapped all day- never more than an hour. I was 10 minutes from being done, so I just popped his pacifier in and let him fuss some while swinging in his swing. I got officially diagnosed with distasis recti at my PP app so part of my motivation to work out is to help close it. I had it after DS1, but it was never officially diagnosed and is believed to be linked to my back and pelvic floor issues. I'm hoping it's not too late to help fix those issues, and I know it'll be next to impossible to workout once I go back to work

piratecat if you have or are thinking about getting any help with bfing, do you have an IBCLC locally rather than just an LC? They're better qualified, since LCs' - how do I say this nicely - competence can vary widely, from awesome to misinformed... regardless I hope either it gets easier for you soon or you settle on an alternative that works for your family With DS for me it was tough and painful for a month at least - I had supply issues and looking back I think he also had a crappy latch & I didn't know what to fix. I won't lie, a big motivator for me with nursing is laziness, not having to make/warm bottles, it's always the right temp on tap. No pressure though - your sanity is also important and baby will do just fine however they're fed The beauty of science is now we have options!!!

My parents were the worst visitors. J was fussing and I was holding him trying to get him to settle for less than a minute and my dad told me I must not be doing it right. No fucking shit dude, I've had this baby for all of 3 days. Omg noooooo!!! I'd be like you can leave now! 😡 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Why am I having to fight with my mother about why jeans and a long sleeve shirt aren't appropriate for a 90 degree day??? DD is going to roast to death in 2 minutes outside. Ugh....

irish14 It has definitely caused my pee to smell. I hope my sweat doesn't smell as I sweat easily. emmalynn I have had many disagreements over what baby girl wears and the weather. Also, over her not wearing socks. It's frustrating, but my response is my baby my decision as to what she wears. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I can't believe the number of outfits we received as gifts for DS that were long-sleeve, heavy, and/or fleece. For a Florida baby in May. DD was born in winter and hardly wore that stuff here.

Baby didn't get any NB outfits yet, so he's fine. It's my three year old that is being dressed for the sub zero temps But either way don't fight me on it!

How do you know if you have supply issues?! That's my big thing is how do I know she's getting enough? Is it if she has the number of diapers she's supposed to??

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yep. # of diapers and weight gain over time are the measures. They need to have enough diapers and stay on a weight gain curve (that takes into account formula vs breastfed). I found we had issues with supply with DS when he dropped in weight from 90th percentile to 75 at a month to 25th at 2 months. I concluded based on the drop in % that his extended bf sessions were related to supply - though some kids just take a long time to eat so I wouldn't conclude anything based on long nursing sessions alone without weight or diaper issues, or significant pain with bfing. He popped back up to 80-90 with supplementing. You can also do a weighted feed to get a more exact sense of what baby is transferring.
