emmalynn, pinkmickey24, the older generation is nuts about babies wearing socks. I still remember being out with my nephew when he was a baby and overheard some lady absolutely aghast that he was barefoot. He was 3 months old and it was July. I'm headed to a brewery today to meet friends. It's either the best idea or the worst. I hope these two cooperate.

irish14 I looked it up and the LC at the hospital I have been seeing is an IBCLC. I went to the weekly support group at the hospital last week that she facilitates so it's nice to have free and regular access to her. Getting bottles ready is definitely a pain and I would love to be able to wean off the formula. rosesquared sufficient weight gain is the big thing for us. J had lost enough weight during the 3 days at the hospital that warranted starting supplementing and getting frequent weight checks since we've been home. We go to lactation support group at the hospital where we can check their weights and make sure that we are on track. I've been thinking about starting fenugreek. Did not know about curry pee smell.

All this talk of bottle prep leads me to this FFSC- I have never warmed a bottle, and both my kids are/were EFF. They either get it at room temp (freshly made) or at fridge temp

rosesquared does your pedi have a LC on staff? I know ours does, and she'll do a weighted feed during checkups for BF-ing moms

If the bottle or milk are anything colder than room temperature, he absolutely will not take it. It's funny how different they can be.

rosesquared We found I had supply issues on top of latching due to weight loss. Baby girl was 7 pounds 11 ounces at birth. We left the hospital supplementing and at a weight of 6 pounds 13 ounces. At her first appointment 2 days after supplementing started she was 6 pounds 14 ounces. We went in for a weight check 4 days later and she dropped 3 ounces. We upped the supplement and went back for another weight check to find she barely maintained. She didn't gain and came close to losing another ounce. I met with the peds NP who is not a LC but is well versed in BF. With her help I added fenugreek and I feed off both sides. The hospital only pushed feeding off one side at a time. Since meeting with the NP she has gained 4 ounces in a week. Monday is another weight check. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I've been taking fenugreek as well and definitely notice the smell. Even worse were these "let there be milk" drops that I'm also using. Omg they taste so bad and smell so strong but I think it might be starting to help my supply.
Also in case anyone was looking, I found already made lactation cookies at target. They were right by the breast pumps and bottles. I have no interest in baking right now so I was glad to find them.

I'd still rather not be washing bottles all the time but I think it's really having to do all the things that has been time consuming and exhausting. I am glad that warming bottles and formula at least is not part of our routine - that might put me over the edge.

Since most of his bottles are the same size, I do bottle prep every night. I fill his bottles with water and portion out formula into 2 formula dispensers. So that way all I need to do is dump the formula in to a bottle, shake and be done. I need to be quick getting his bottles because he goes from zero to hangry in 2 seconds.
