rosesquared , I'm sorry you're in so much pain still. I know being in pain makes dealing with a newborn a lot more difficult. This week is the first week I feel pretty good since my RCS 6 weeks ago. It has not been fun. My first day alone with the kids yesterday ended up not being alone. My parents called while I was on my way to the mall and decided to meet me there. So maybe tomorrow I'll experiment with being on my own with them. DS is currently sleeping in his swing in the family room and I really want to go do some stuff around the house but he opens his eyes every few minutes and if I'm not in here, he cries. I guess I'm forced to sit here on the couch and drink more coffee.

sleepymonkey yep mine cries when she wakes up and realizes one of us isn't holding her... I'm chalking this week up to couch sitting and coffee drinking. I'll start doing stuff next week.

Just got back from another weight check because baby girl had lost weight again as of Monday's check. I'm happy to say she gained 4 ounces since Monday's check and is 7 pounds 1 ounce.
Today's plan is to attack the mess I call my house.

Next week is my last week of maternity leave. How did 8 weeks go so quickly? In a way I am looking forward to going back to work and getting back in to a routine but I'm also nervous about the new routine and getting 2 kids out of the house at the crack of dawn.

DS slept 4.5 hrs and then 3 hrs last night! So much better than getting up every 2 hrs the past few days. Hoping this is the start of good sleep.
I have my 6 week OB check up tomorrow morning... I guess I need to think about birth control. Considering an IUD this time.

DS will not sleep for more than 20 minutes at a time today. Damn 6 week growth spurt. He did the same thing yesterday and my mom finally put him on his tummy on the couch and he crashed for 2 hours. I think I may try that soon because his lack of good sleep is making him fussy.

txcatlady I'm not there yet, we're 3w, but I'm going to have to figure out bc soon too... I'm terrified of an IUD bc of complications, though I know they're rare. I guess I need to decide whether I can be diligent enough for the mini pill. If we have another, I think I need to take a little more time and a little better care of myself between. I have been trying to figure out why nights have been emotionally tough. DD has not been that bad - usually wakes up around midnight, 3, 5, sometimes only twice or we cosleep/dream feed for one of the wakeups - but I had an epiphany today that though DS had a similar schedule, DH and I were splitting it. Now I do baby and DH handles the toddler, so I'm feeling more responsible for all the wake ups. At least I've figured out why I'm feeling it's tough. Also whenever I fall asleep nursing, it totally screws getting the baby back down, bc I always sleep long enough to get to almost next feed time, and she won't get back down. Frustratingggggg and I just get mad at myself for falling asleep like an idiot. Well this turned into a vent. If you made it to the end you get a cookie.

I feel like all I do between 5-9 pm is try to balance a baby hooked on to me while trying to keep my big kids from hurting themselves or breaking things....
I had my 6 week pp on Tuesday and had my MW start the process for an IUD...she said it would be about 2 weeks to prior auth, get it and then set up the appointment...I'm hoping it doesn't cause me to start my period...I had 14 glorious months without one after DD2

pinkmickey24 Yay for weight gain! sleepymonkey I am not looking forward to wonky naps. DS will be 6 weeks this weekend. I already manage his naps really hard because it's a cumulative effect if he doesn't nap well early in the day. I'll probably have to plan on holding/rocking him for longer to make sure he sleeps. I wish it weren't so dang hot. I'd love to go on a walk with DS in the stroller to help break up the day and to get some exercise. I decided today that I'm going to try to plan some activities for his awake times just for my sanity, and I'll probably need to do the walk after his morning nap even though I like to be lazy in the mornings. gimmesugar Every morning I tell myself we're going for a walk and then noon rolls around and I'm still in my pajamas. I'm so slow in the mornings, I don't know how I used to manage being out the door by 4:15am! Is it normal for baby to have a preference of which way their head looks when on their back? I feel like B always looks to the right, 9 times out of 10. I don't want him to develop torticollis or a flat spot but I'm not sure if it's too soon to worry about it.

lupincatMine usually looks to her right too.... The pedi checks her head for symmetry at appointments and I keep an eye on it too. plus we babywear a lot and she lays on both sides while nursing.

gimmesugar, DS hasn't been on a nap schedule but he was pretty consistently sleeping for a few hours straight in the morning and the afternoon. Then he started becoming more aware of his surroundings and started getting more interactive this weekend and his naps have become kind of crappy. I wish I could take him for walks in the stroller, too, because I really need some exercise but it's so hot here in FL and it has been raining every f---ing day for the past few weeks. Plus poor baby has my pale skin that burns quickly so I really need to limit his outside time. I really need to find him a good sunscreen.

I bought both a Moby wrap and lillebaby carrier, and he doesn't like either. He wants to be held all the time too. One handed cleaning is way harder and killing my back!
I think I am going to use the minipill come 6 weeks. Reading the comments I reminded me to make an appt, he will be 5 weeks this Friday, it went by so fast!! DH is getting snipped, sometime, supposedly. I am nervous for him, but we are done done, and I have gotten pregnant on birth control... so I guess that is the way to go.

sagen how long do you have him in the carrier? DS2 will fuss until I bounce a bit and then he's calm. They need to get used to it just like we do. lupincat it's normal for them to have a preference. When they're awake, you can encourage looking in the other direction to help chknma what IUD are you going for? I've never had an insertion cause my period to come though I've always gotten spotting for a day or two from it. I get my 3rd one next week at 8 weeks PP (it was ordered right after I delivered but MW won't insert until 8w 🙄)
