river we start at 4 months and move on to BLW. I don't spoon feed so I'll squirt pouches as they learn to suck on them- once he puts together how to get food to mouth, he'll get real food all the time instead of just for play. We did the same for DS1. First food will be prunes.

irish14 I hope your first day went well! My first day back is tomorrow. I'm only working two days this week though and J doesn't start daycare until September. H is going to take him to work with him in the morning, them bring him to my office for a visit, which will be nice. I hope I pump enough. I'm worried that going back to work is going to mess up my supply and we'll have to go back to supplementing.

@dmorgandorfer pinkmickey24 piratecat thanks for the well wishes. Today was pretty good except DD only ate like 6 oz in 9 hours. She was really not into eating second half of the day. I'm hoping she's just adjusting and not reverse cycling or thinking about refusing bottles... makes me sad if she's hungry during the day but won't eat.

Good luck today piratecat! Fx irish14 your dd eats more today. I think we've got the 4 month sleep regression with C. He was sleeping for 10+ hours straight. Now we have at least two wake ups in the night plus really crappy naps.

First day back at work and J is having his first bout of diarrhea. It started last night right before bedtime and he's had a few more since then. When should I be worried?

The internet tells me that I should call the doctor if a baby younger than 3 months has diarrhea. It seems like it's less concerning for babies over 3 months unless accompanied by other symptoms like vomiting or fever. J will be 3 months on Friday...

piratecat our daycare sends them home at 4 diarrhea diapers within 24 hours. I often use their guidelines as a when to call. The issue with it is dehydration so if he's had 4 within the past 24, I'd call

I never hesitate to call if I'm unsure piratecat. It's their job and I'm sure hey much prefer a call during the day then oncall at night ;-). They can probably tell you if something is going around and anything else to look out for. Sorry for the added stress your first day back...hope the day passes quickly and you can get home and snuggle your little one!

I am sorry your LO is sick. How do you tell if it's diarrhea if they are breastfed? All of my baby's are wateryish yellow with seedy curds in it. I always wondered that.

cmb that seems like a reasonable guideline. I think we are at 3 so far. He is still drooling up a storm though so I think that's a good sign. chknma it sounds like our 2-month-old niece had something that J could have caught. It wasn't anything serious for her so I think I'm going to wait and call tomorrow morning if he's not better. Only half hour to go before I get to go home! sagen I always wondered that too but it was unmistakable when I saw it. It is much more watery than normal liquidy poop and more moucous-y too.

I got home from work and J won't stop nursing. He might be nursing more since you were gone all day as well. Sometimes babies hold off a bit on feeding and wait until mom gets home.

piratecat The boys had diarrhea for about two weeks when they were 3 months old. The pediatrician's office said to be concerned if their eating is effected and refuse to eat and if they stop producing tears when they cry. I did end up taking them to the ER around the 5th day because every time they ate it came right back out via diarrhea and lack of tears. I hope your little one feels better. Don't hesitate to call. That's what they're there for. I hope your little one feels better.

Today I went to work to get things ready for Monday and as a trial run for gaging the amount of time needed to get out the door. If I get up on time it will work well; if not, it will be a scramble. I got to work only to find I left the cooler with my pump parts at daycare. So I went the majority of the day without pumping. Good news is my best friend is giving me her pump that she never used and is still sitting in the box, so I have one to leave at work.
