Finally getting around to this... I went in for my 39 week appointment on a Wednesday and right away they wanted to send me into the hospital. My BP was high for me and I was sitting at 2cm. Before I could ask all my questions, the fire alarm went off. So I went into triage freaking out. It was fun. I was having contractions every 5 minutes but didn't dilate further. My labs came back ok and I decided not to induce even though it was offered. I wasn't ready. Thursday was awful with contractions. I was miserable and crying by the end of the night cursing why I didn't do the induction. Then Friday I woke up and they were gone. So we spent most of the day prepping the house. I cleaned, caught up on laundry, all that good stuff. Then Saturday they came back and I was back to being miserable. I went to the pharmacy and took my BP and it was high. So I went home and went to bed but contractions kept me up until 11pm. Sunday I woke up at 4 to more contractions but these felt different. I made it to 6 without waking up H. Then we waited. Around 10 they started to fizzle and I was so upset. At 11:00 I notice my feet swelling so I decided we were going in. Once we dropped the dog at daycare at 11:30, the contractions came back with a vengeance. My BP was high and I was at 4cm so I was staying. My nurse was awesome and managed to get me a room with a tub and let me use it even though my BP was a little high. At some point my doula came in. Around 6pm I was checked and only at 5cm. So my doctor broke my water. H went to get dinner and we called him back eventually because things got rough. The baby shifted and we had to get her back into a safe position. I labored for what felt like forever and I couldn't take it anymore. I asked for the epidural and my doc came in to check me beforehand. I was only at 6cm. In went the epidural and 1 hour and 15 minutes later I was at 10cm. I looked at the clock and figured miss would be born on the 20th. I was warned that FTMs usually push for 1-3 hours. I started pushing and the nurse told me to stop. They brought the doctor back right away and my beautiful baby was born after only 15 minutes of pushing. She just made Feb 19th with 7 minutes to spare! I had a second degree tear but otherwise held up pretty well considering I was in labor for 20 hours. My little nugget is perfect! 7lbs 14oz, 20" long. She looks so much like H I can't stand it! I'm so in love

Taking this with me... Elean.or Ma.ry is here! She was born on Saturday, February 11th at 4:28pm after 31 hours of labor and just 14 minutes of pushing. She weighs 8lbs. 3oz. And is 20.5" long. (Though I think they didn't measure her wrong. Everyone comments about how big/long she is. I think she's more like 22.5" long.) Here she is... will poof later. Ok. So my birth story is a long one. Kudos to whomever among you make it through it. We went to the hospital at 7am Friday morning for the induction. They were going to give me misoprostil (sp?) to get things going. But apparently I was already contracting a bit on my own, so that was out. So they hooked me up to pitocin. After several hours of pitocin I hadn't progressed past a 1, so they gave me the balloon catheter thingy to manually dilate me. That HURT. I will never look at a balloon the same way again. So around 10pm on Friday, the balloon came out and I was 3 cm. Still had pitocin and the contractions were getting more and more painful. So finally, after some suffering, I agreed to take some Nubain. Let me tell you. That is some good shit. As soon as the needle touched me ass, it was like I was plastered drunk. I was able to take a nap, and all was well in the world. Until it wore off 2 hours later. Then the pain came back with a vengeance. And they offered me more, but I knew it wouldn't last and thought it was a waste. So I got up to pee and felt unbelievably nauseated. I was able to grab a bucket before I started projectile vomiting. And then I was puking so bad I peed ALL over the floor. And it was pee. Not my water breaking. I was horrified. I was shaking and puking uncontrollably from the pain so I finally agreed to get the epidural. There was no way I was going from a 3 to a 10 without it. So in comes the anesthesia resident who gives me the epidural. Apparently missed the site somehow, and I have a huge bruise on my back (but thankfully no other damage.) The real anesthesiologist came in and made sure everything was ok and the epidural worked. Then my water broke. I was able to sleep for a few hours. On Saturday morning I was dilated to a 6 and the nurses switched. Within an hour, I had progressed to an 8. Shortly thereafter, I began to feel a ton of rectal pressure like I was going to shit myself. And felt a strong urge to push. They checked me again and said I was still at 8/75% so no pushing yet. I was shocked that even with the epidural I could feel that much pain and pressure. She was very low (at +1) and the pressure was very painful. It quickly became apparent that my new nurse was lazy and the biggest cunt I've ever met. (And I do not use that word in polite conversation.) She was MEAN. She was only ever in the room when I called her. (And for the record, I was her only patient.) She didn't come in to shut off beeping monitors. She didn't care that I was literally sobbing in pain from the pressure. She refused to agree to get doctors to check my dilation. (Told me the residents were busy and she wouldn't "harass" the attending on my behalf.) She only drained my catheter when I asked her to, despite the immense pressure I was feeling. Didn't seem to care that I'd run a fever or had blood pressure at some points of 170/100. Ok. So I started feeling immense pain around 12:30pm. The bitch nurse continued to be a bitch and refuse to help me. I was crying to DH saying "I don't feel like anyone cares that I'm in this much pain. I feel so alone in my medical care. I had an epidural. How can I be in this much pain?" So Bitch Nurse only agrees to check my dilation once every 90 minutes. I stare at the clock and count down minutes. At one point, I was 9.5 and had just a little "lip" of cervix left, but they still wouldn't let me push. So Bitch Nurse brings me a "peanut pillow" to put between my legs as I laid on my side. Warning me that the pain will get worse, but I needed to change up my positions. And I needed the peanut pillow for at least an hour. So I put the peanut pillow in between my legs, crying the whole time and playing relaxation music to try to prevent myself from going into hysterics. After 40 minutes, I couldn't endure the pain anymore and took it out and sat up. Sitting was one of the few positions I could do. BN walks in, sees the peanut pillow out, and loses her shit on me. Tells me if I'm not going to follow the treatment plan, I'll never progress and if I don't progress I'll have to get a csection. Then tells me that I should remember that not all babies are born alive. I was sobbing and said, "I'm sorry! I made it for 40 minutes. I just couldn't take the pain!" She then told me that I wasn't in pain because I'd had an epidural and that thank God I'd had the epidural because there's no way I'd be able to handle "real labor". And walks out. She comes back a few minutes later with another nurse, this time acting like we're BFF, and basically puts me in doggy style to try to progress things. I stay in that position for the next 30 minutes, still in excruciating pain. At this point, whenever I had a contraction, I physically could not stop myself from pushing. And I cried and apologized and said, "I'm so sorry, but I can't stop the pushing." But since there were other people around, BN told me not to apologize and she'd get the resident doctor to check me again. Resident doctor checks me and I'm at 10 with a TINY lip. And seeing that I'm about to break down completely, he tells me he thinks I can start pushing anyway. So he asks me to do a practice push. And I do. His eyes get large as saucers and he yells out "Ok. You're a really good pusher. We've gotta get everyone in here NOW!" So the other doctors and another nurse come running in. Literally running. And in 14 minutes, with 5 sets of contractions, she was out. We've been working on breastfeeding and we're definitely making progress. DH and I are completely in love. Kudos if you got through all that.

I went into labor as soon as DH turned off the light to go to bed around 11:15 Friday night. I thought it was gas since we ordered out pizza but it was sharp pains every few minutes so I pulled out the app and started timing them and low and behold, they were every 3-5 minutes at that point. I waited for an hour to make sure it was legit then called my OB, who told me to get to the hospital.
We arrive at the hospital and I am 4 cm dilated. I got my epidural around 3 am and let me tell you, after dealing with tons of needles with IVF, the epidural going in didn’t hurt at all, the worst was a contraction in the middle of it. I fnally got some relief and dozed off and on until 6:30ish. They came in to check me and to break my water and apparently at some point it broke. There was no trickle, no gush, nothing. We were all surprised by that then realized I was fully dilated and waited to start pushing after the epidural wore off a little bit since I wasn’t feeling any contractions at that point.
I start pushing at 7:40 and after 2 hours, we weren’t getting anywhere. We were minutes away from deciding whether to use vacuum assist or go for a c-section when my OB gets pulled away for an emergency c-section and told me that she will be back as soon as possible. I took a little bit of a break from pushing and started Pitocin to hopefully get things going. That’s when things finally started moving and within ½ hour of the OB returning, he was born at 11:21am weighing 7lb 4 oz and 20.25 inches long.
He is absolutely perfect. I’m still in a bit of shellshock that he is mine, it’s very surreal at this point even when he wakes me in the middle of the night.
TLDR: I was in labor for 12 hours, pushed for over 4 hours while OB got called away for an emergency c-section. He is perfect.

This ended up being long so congrats if you finish.
So due date was 2-15 and I had my midwife appointment that morning. I was having period like cramps, a lot of mucous discharge, and driving there was painful to sit so I asked for a cervical check and sweep. I was 2cm and she said she was able to feel and release a good pocket of fluid and to stay upright for at least an hour.
I went and picked up the kids from my MIL and went home to do laundry and clean the house. Cramping intensified to the point that I needed to take a bath to relax. I noticed a huge chunk of mucous with bloody show before getting in the tub. I messaged DH after getting out around 1:30 to tell him I thought things were working and he chose to come home early.
Started cleaning again. More mucous with bloody show around 4 so I took a nap in case things went late into the night. Woke up to a real contraction just before 6 so I got up and ate a big supper to prep and started trying to time things but they were really irregular. Anywhere from 5-20 mins apart and not lasting long.
At 7 I put the girls to bed and told DD1 that MIL might be there in the morning if I had to go have the baby. Then DH and I started timing again and they were 15mins apart constant for an hour so we called MIL who came over for 8:30. Between then and 9:30 my contractions jumped from 15 to 12 to 8 to 6 minutes quickly. So we called the midwife and headed to the hospital to avoid almost giving birth in the car like with DD2.
At the hospital by 9:50 where she checked me and I was 8cm and thin. DH and I hung out in the labor room mostly alone. The MW came and checked babies HR periodically. Things seemed to go slow but that was just my impatience talking. By midnight my contractions were pretty intense and close together, 12:15 my water broke and DH called the MW back in. She asked what position I wanted to get in but standing, squeezing DH hands and pushing down was the only way I was happy. So we raised the bed as much as possible so he and I could stand on each side and hold hands over the bed and that way I was still supported and standing.
I was cleared to push so I did. First push I pooped myself. Not my finest moment and the only birth it happened for. Oh well. 2 pushes later his head was out. I paused to get down on my knees because my legs were shaking. 2 more pushes and he was out at 12:28! DH came around the bed to see baby and tell me he was a boy! They let me pick him up off the floor and we did skin to skin. DH cut the cord after it stopped pulsing. The midwife commented how huge the cord and placenta were. Only a 1st degree tear too so that was a nice surprise.
She weighed him and he was 10lbs 14oz. I couldn't believe I just had a nearly 11lb baby. He's 24 inches long. DD2 is 29!! He's huge. So then we had to stay 12 hours to get 4 consecutive good blood sugar readings which were all fine. Given the time of night we were planning on staying anyway so it was nbd. His only issue so far is eating. Given his size he is so lazy at the boob. I expressed colostrum and syringe fed him tonight. DD1 was the same way and after a week was on track so I'm confident we'll get past this with the midwife coming to the house to help.
Name is Re.id Clay.ton, after my paternal grandfather. Our last baby!! DD1 is baby obsessed. DD2 is handling it better than I expected which is mostly indifference. We're so in love with this little man.

Name: Sabine Marguerite Date/ Time: 2/14 @6am Gestation: 40w3d Weight: 7lbs 3oz Length: 20.5"
Yesterday, I went in for my usual OB/ nst appt @ 3:30pm, and after she passed and my OB checked me, I asked for a membrane sweep to see if it would get things going. I was already at a solid 4 cm, so I was really hopeful. By 6pm, I was feeling contractions again, but as I'd been having them on and off for weeks I wasn't convinced that it meant anything at all. I finished the laundry I'd started earlier, got the dishes all done, and made dinner without feeling anything really different. After I got G to bed, though, things started picking up a bit. They had been frequent from the start, but they started to feel stronger. Knowing that my body had punked me out in this same way on several occasions, I just bounced on the yoga ball and tried to relax and not think about it too much. By 10pm, I decided that they were definitely strong enough to go in so I called my mom and she came down to keep an eye on the girls for the night.
Once up in L&D @ nearly 11pm, I got checked and was hovering around 5-6cm. Contractions were picking up so we walked the halls, bounced on the birthing ball, and eventually got into the jacuzzi tub to take the edge off. By 2:30am, I decided I'd had enough and called for the epidural. I was shaking so badly and having such a hard time breathing that I'm glad I made the call when I did. Anesthesiology came up fairly quickly, but I had a vein that was in the way and kept getting nicked. 4 attempts later, it was finally in, but took about a half an hour to take full affect. I was so happy just to have the pain back down to a manageable 6, but a little while later I was totally numbed up and feeling great and 6cm. It was about 3:45am, so DH and I decided to get some sleep but I couldn't quite turn off my brain. At 5:50am, little lady had a sharp heart deceleration and the nurses came rushing in. Turns out her head was being squeezed and she was ready to be out. They barely had time to get the midwife in the room when my water literally burst and she was out in one push! Right at 6am. Sab.ine Mar.guerite was 7lbs 3oz, 20.5", and has such soft little light brown hair. She also makes the most adorable cooing sounds, but I'm probably just being partial.
We're doing well so far. Sore and tired but so happy and itching to get home.
Thank you all for the love tits and support! These past few weeks have felt grueling!

So I had the regular checkup yesterday afternoon where I turned out to be 4-5 cm dilated. Doc said she couldn't induce me because (by their rough estimation, not mine) I wasn't quite 39 weeks yet. I went home having a couple of randomly spaced crampy contractions same as has been happening the past few weeks. Picked up DH from the house and we went together to get DD from daycare and then out to dinner. Started feeling like contractions were getting possibly serious, still not sure. Headed back to the house and called aunt and uncle on the way to say we needed them to pick up DD at our house. At that point the contractions came on hard, fast, and wicked painful. Everyone was kind of dawdling talking and packing stuff in the cars while I was literally yelling "let's go!! We have to go!!" Of course after we get in the car DH has to run back and make sure the door is locked. Then, as soon as we exit the neighborhood he remembered he forgot something else in the house. It was rush hour, of course, and we spent almost three times longer getting to the hospital as normal. Contractions were so strong that when DH dropped me off I went in, pressed the elevator button, but couldn't move to get on the elevator. Finally checked in at L&D and was 8cm. They rushed to do an epidural which didn't completely take because of previous back surgery. Things were unhappy for me, I have to say, but E.lena Dian.e came quickly with 8/9 apgar score within only 1 hour 25 minutes of getting to the hospital. After it was over, my nurse said "Tell everyone you had a natural birth!" Turns out it's lucky we got there when we did because they were so swamped "because of the full moon" that some women were laboring in the waiting room! How awful! I am so happy she's here, though!!! Sorry for the novel. tl;dr After weeks of on and off contractions we almost didn't make it to the hospital in time, but everything turned out fine.

Hey Ladies. I'm home alone with just my little nugget for the first time so I figured I'd take a few minutes to type out my birth story for you all. Overall, I think I was incredibly blessed for a first time birth. It was an interesting mix of a little drama and just total ease. Anyway, from the beginning.
So I woke up at 3:30 Friday morning (36w 1d - and the day my coworkers were throwing me a luncheon) thinking I just had to go to the bathroom. When I went to the bathroom I realized my underwear was soaked through with clear liquid onto my pants. No liquid had gone through my pants though, it wasn't that much. Of course, DH was over an hour away with the military for the weekend. I went back into bed figuring I'd do a kick count to make sure she was ok before getting too worried about whatever was going on, and texted DH just to let him know. I was torn between waiting until 8:30 when my OB office opens and calling the on call doctor. DH happened to wake and check his phone and convinced me to call the on call doctor around 5am. I was having intermittent lower back pain, that I did not really attribute to contractions, but other than that I was totally fine. The doctor was sort of weird about it though with a "well if you want to get checked head on in to the hospital" type of attitude. By this point I figured might as well thinking I'd just get peace of mind. So I got up, let the dog out, threw on some clothes, and drove myself to the hospital. (I did notice that when I got back out of bed I could feel more fluid leaking, but still no big gushes or huge amounts).
I got to the hospital a bit before 6 and went through the whole check-in with the nurse. Meanwhile, I had kept telling DH not to rush back until we knew what was up (he didn't have a car where he was having gone in the caravan so it would be some effort to get him home). While waiting for the doctor all hooked up to the monitors even I could see that the back pain I was having correlated with evenly timed contractions. The doctor came in to check me at about 6:45, and barely started to check my cervix before pronouncing "yup, water broke, 3cm dilated." Needless to say, I was shocked.
Luckily DH hadn't listened to me and had secured a ride home. They admitted me to labor and delivery and because I had only had my GBS swab two days before, and the results weren't back yet they started my penicillin and gave me the lovely bum steroid shot since I was under 37 weeks. DH finally made it to the hospital around 9:30, and for the first few hours things seemed to be going pretty slowly. I was laboring only in my back, which sucked. They told me I could get the epidural whenever, but I didn't want to be stuck in bed for hours if labor was going to progress slowly. I got them to check my cervix again around noon and I was only at 4cm. I wanted to stick it out longer without the epidural because it seemed like it would be a while, but by 1pm I had it put in. It was a good thing too, because when the doctor checked me at 2, I was suddenly 8cm, by 3pm I was fully dilated. The had be start pushing a little after 4, and at 4:32pm we a baby! The nurse and midwife were both shocked that I pushed for so short a period of time, especially for a first baby. I ended up with two first degree tears, stitches in one, but overall I'm doing really well.
Z.emirah (ze-meer-ah) K.erry arrived at 6lbs 2oz and 19 inches. A peds team had to be in the room since she wasn't full terms, but we still got to do skin to skin for a few minutes before they took her to check. Everything was fine, luckily.
Our time in the hospital wasn't bad. She had to spend some time the first night in the late pre term nursery instead of with us for extra monitoring. There was concern about her blood sugar so the poor thing had to keep getting stuck for repeated tests. We finally passed by the skin of our teeth with enough results in the clear by Saturday night. We had trouble with breastfeeding and getting her to latch so I was hand expressing and we were syringe feeding while in the hospital. We were discharged Sunday late afternoon (after a full 48 hours of observation on her because of the early status).
As an aside, both a doctor and the midwife from my practice were on duty Friday, and there was some interesting back and forth. The midwife kept wanting to start me on pitocin, starting around 11am, but the doctor kept holding off since I was having contractions and progressing. The midwife ended up being the one to deliver me, and she ended up pushing it when I was fully dilated just to make sure things didn't stall, but it was interesting to me.
Now that we're home we're just trying to get into a routine. Little miss still won't latch directly onto the breast, will only feed with a nipple shield. I know it's a little harder for her because she was early and is little, but I'm a little worried about her never taking the boob directly. Anyone have any experience with this? My plan is if we reach one week old and are still unable to latch to the breast I'll call a lactation consultant. I'm feeling pretty well overall. The tear they didn't stitch is up by my urethra, which is making urinating uncomfortable, but I don't think I can complain. Our first pediatrician appointment was yesterday afternoon, and we go back for a weight check tomorrow.
Now on to the mushy stuff - I absolutely cannot wrap my head around the fact that she's here. I'm not sure if I'd be able to believe more if I'd had the 4 more weeks I was planning on or not. After everything we went through to get her, for her arrival to be so sudden and smooth...we spent 2 1/2 years battling IF, only to get a surprise BFP, and I don't think I ever truly allowed myself to believe I'd be bringing home a baby. I couldn't be more thrilled to have my doubts proven wrong. My heart just melts at the sight of DH with her. I think he holds her more than me, and watching my tough guy doing skin to skin with this little nugget it my favorite sight in the world.
Ok, sorry I rambled on, and probably didn't always make sense. If you made it all the way through this I'll reward you with a little Z pic in a few minutes from mobile. I'll continue to follow along with you amazing ladies, and can't to hear all of your stories!

The Dr's decided to induce me at 38 weeks due to my high blood pressure. I had been on bedrest rest for a little over a week. Being on bedrest got my blood pressure down, but the Dr's were concerned it would come back at anytime and I would develop preeclampsia. Apparently based on what my BP was at its highest, the current guidelines say to have the baby at 37 weeks, but they let me continue on bedrest because my BP went down and I wanted to continue to wait it out. With my first, I was induced at 41+5 and really wanted to have the chance to go into labor on my own. So given that I was being induced at 38 weeks, almost 4 weeks earlier than with my first, I was a little worried that my induction would take forever and may end up with a c-section because I never progressed. None of the Dr's or nurses seemed worried, so I tried to keep that in mind. I got to the hospital for my scheduled induction at 6:00am. They started the pitocin around 7:00. According to the monitors I was contracting, but I wasn't feeling them at all. The Dr came in around 9:30 and I was 2-3cm so she broke my water. After breaking my water, I was assuming I would start feeling the contractions, but it took another few hours before I started feeling them. I started feeling them very gradually starting out as mild cramps and then over a couple of hours Thur got increasingly uncomfortable. During this time, I was checked a few time and was gradually dilating. The numbers weren't changing all that much, but my nurse was very happy that even though the numbers weren't changing dramatically there were big changes happening (baby moving down, effacing, etc). As the contractions got increasingly uncomfortable, I asked for the epidural and got it around 2:30 or so. The epidural went really well and within 5 minutes of it going in I was feeling great. The anesthesiologist said I have a great back for an epidural. My husband, the nurse, and I all laughed. I said, what's that mean? Am I fat, skinny, other?? Haha. Apparently my vertebrae have nice spacing- whatever that means. After the epidural, she checked me and I was 5cm. At that point I was able to relax and just hang out with out with DH and our family that was with us. I was checked again around 4:45 and the nurse said I was 7-8. And then proclaims, we're having a baby by 5:30! I was like- "what now?!" You think I'm going to finish dilating and push this baby out in the next 45 minutes? Well, she was wrong. But she was funny, she kept coming in saying she was annoyed with the Dr. She kept saying, "I keep telling the Dr to come in here deliver this baby, but she says to let you go." It was funny. She checked me again around 5:45 and I was complete, so the family cleared out to the waiting room and the nurse assistant starting setting up the room. I started pushing around 6:00 and was using the mirror so I could see everything (which was really cool). I didn't use the mirror with DS1 and regretted it. It took a few minutes to figure out the pushing because my epidural was so good I couldn't feel anything. At first the pushing was all happening in my face, but after a couple of contractions I got the hang of it and the mirror really helped. After about 30 minutes of pushing Ry.an Will.iam was born at 6:29pm on 2/13/17. He weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces and is 20 inches long. Overall my induction went great. My nurse was great, the epidural worked awesome. The epidural was so great that after it kicked in I didn't really feel anything. I literally never felt any more contractions or even pushing. This did make the pushing a little more difficult, but with the help of the mirror I figured it out. Ryan is doing really well and I feel pretty good, just sore (which is to be expected). So far breastfeeding is going ok. I have been using the nipple shield, which I had to use the entire year that I nursed DS1. I really hope that I can transition away from it, because it's kind of a pain in the butt. But I know that if it doesn't happen, I can still Successfully nurse for a long time with it.

I was scheduled to go in for a C-Section on 2/21 after learning early this past week that we had another big baby. I was really hoping for a VBAC so I was praying my body would do something on it's own before then. The morning of 2/17 at around 2:45 I woke up with really nasty heartburn (I forgot to take my Zantac and we had pizza for dinner that night ), but I also just felt off. Tried to go back to sleep but the heartburn was still there. Around 3:15 the dog decided he needed to go outside. So I got out of bed let him out at felt a crampy contraction. I got back in bed sitting up and felt another. Then I laid on my side and got up and walked around trying to make sure this was the real deal. Once I realized it might be, I woke DH up and told him to shower just in case. I called the nurses line because they were only 30 seconds long at that point but we're 2.5-3 minutes apart off the bat. I was waiting for her to tell me to come in or not and my water broke while on the phone with her. So in we went. (PS - DH apparently hadn't packed anything yet so most of the morning was yelling at him in between contractions until we left). Got to the hospital and they went ahead and sent me to a room and checked me and I was 6cm and 100% effaced. Things were starting to get uncomfortable so I asked for the epidural. It took them 1.5 hours to get it to me. Things progressed ok for me but the baby just did not like contractions. I can't tell you how many times I had to flip back and forth to try to get his HR stable. Well we did this for about 2 more hours. I progressed to almost a 9 but baby would just not come down. He never made it last -2. We tried the peanut ball and some other things. Baby was getting really tired so we decided the C-Section would be the best bet. We got prepped and headed back - it brought back lots of deja vous from with DD. I told them I wanted DH to announce the sex so when they were about to pull him out they told DH. He stepped to the side and they pulled out the baby and flipped him around so DH could tell me "It's a baby boy" with tears in his eyes. I'm telling you that right there was so worth being team green! We did skin to skin while they stitched me back up. Clayton Primo was 9lb. 1oz. and 21" long. Clayton is DH's middle name and Primo was his granddads name. He looked great until about 9ish last night. He breathing got a little labored and he kept spitting up fluid even though we hadn't been able to feed yet. So they took him back and did a check X-ray and drew some blood so we're just waiting to hear the results. He fed good around 3 something last night and has had a decent one this morning too. We're thinking that things are ok now. They're letting us keep him in the room with us and just taking him back periodically to be monitored. DD wasn't too sure about him at first but she ended up holding him and liked him ok after that! ETA: He was fine the next day. He had just swallowed too much fluid during the c-section & needed to get it out. TL;DR I didn't get my VBAC but I did get to experience going into labor on my own which was one of the main reasons I wanted to VBAC. Clayton is here and is doing ok. Pictures for getting through th

I had a baby, guys! I'm so excited and exhausted. So I woke up Tuesday morning with pretty regular contractions and my OB says head to the hospital. I get here and get examined and contractions are still not very strong, since the hospital is kinda far from my house I'm told to walk around the hospital for two hours to try and get things going. So I do, and it works, contractions become more regular and stronger and they admit me around noon. I walk and walk and get monitored but things are progressing VERY slowly. Towards the evening contractions are very strong and I need anesthesia, however I'm still only dilated to 4 cm. I get anesthesia and OB breaks my water and two hours later... Nothing has changed. Same dilation, baby still pretty high. At this point I've been in labor for over 17 hours and having strong, close contractions for over 12. So I get a C section. I'm kinda frustrated but at that point I was exhausted and out of options. Sadly he does not share oldbaylover1024 's birthday because it was already after midnight when he was born, so 2/8. It went well and recovery is going OK so far. Most important of all, baby is doing great! PDQ

Friday morning, I had my weekly OB appointment. My OB checked my cervix and it was long and fully closed. I asked if that meant likely going overdue and having an induction. He told me that no, for all I know my water could break in the parking lot, or I could have a bunch of contractions overnight and have the baby the next day. Still, I was discouraged. I had had regular contractions the day before for a few hours and I had been hoping they did something. I ignored similar sensations at work on Friday. On the way home, I gave my mom the update and told her what the OB said. We both laughed at the idea of having the baby overnight.
I was lying on the couch that evening when I had a painful contraction, much stronger than before. A few minutes later, I had another one, and then, another one. I started timing them and they were less than five minutes apart and 30-40 seconds long. After they continued for an hour, I called my doula to let her know what was happening. I quickly showered and got the rest of my hospital bag ready. Then, I labored at home for a while. I tried all the positions I had read about and had my husband rub my back and bring an essential oil diffuser and dim the lights.
Things got intense quickly. From the first few contractions, I had the shakes really bad. This made it difficult to rest in between contractions since I was shaking and chattering uncontrollably. A few hours in, I also started getting very nauseous. I called my doula again and told her to meet us at the hospital.
It was much harder to manage the pain once we got to the hospital. Lying on my back on the exam table was excruciating. They examined me and told me that I was only 1 cm and 80% effaced. They kept me for monitoring in triage for 3 hours because the fetal monitor wasn’t showing enough decels. I threw up from the pain. At the end of 3 hours, they checked me again – I was still at 1 cm. They said I had the choice of going home for several hours or checking into the antenatal unit to get IV pain meds. I decided to go home.
I labored in the tub and in bed, trying to get some rest between contractions. It was difficult since I was shaking and throwing up, but easier than at the hospital. Eventually, I felt it was time. I was running out of energy and having trouble coping with the pain. When they checked me this time, I was 4 cm – enough to get admitted. As I got up from the exam table, my water broke. We celebrated the progress.
I asked to get the epidural ASAP. The pain was overwhelming after my water broke, and I was utterly exhausted after 15 hours of labor and no sleep. The epidural was painless and brought immediate relief. I was still shaking though. I got Pitocin after a few hours of no progress on dilation. That worked quickly and soon I was fully dilated.
Unfortunately, I had spiked a fever that was causing tachycardia in the baby. They wanted to bring it down before I started to push. I waited for an hour for the antibiotics and fever reducer to kick in, marveling that I would soon meet my baby. The OB came back and told me it was time.
I got a second wind when it was time to push. I found it enjoyable compared to the first part of labor. But after a few pushes, they told me that baby wasn’t coping well with the pushing on top of the fever. Her heart rate was dangerously high and she needed to come out in the next push. The OB was going to use forceps to get her out. This was not how I imagined my baby entering the world and I was scared for her safety. I started to cry but got myself together in time for that final push. The epidural numbed me and I did not feel the episiotomy.
I watched her coming out and waited for her to cry. Once she did, I cried too – tears of relief and joy. We were able to do immediate skin-to-skin and my husband cut the cord after a few minutes. Labor and delivery was more difficult than I had hoped for. But the result made the process seem less important, and at the same time, more special. It was what it took to get our baby into the world.

Never actually wrote this all out before...here goes!
Monday's NST at 37w 3days showed a small rash over my belly. Next morning it was worse and on my fore arms so I called my OB and she said it was PUPPS. She moved my Thursday NST to Wednesday. Wednesday came and rash was again worse so she called me in a RX and I also told work that I was done coming in because sitting in meeting scratching the hell out of my belly was so unprofessional. Called OB and asked if I could be induced any earlier than the following Monday...answer was no. That no broke me...I was miserable. DH then called the OB and of course then she moved it to Friday - 38 weeks even at 5pm. Thursday morning log into work from home and make all my arrangements to be out after 1 Friday. Not an hour later and hospital calls and moves me into their first slot at 7am because that momma had her baby early. So scramble and redo all my plans.
Friday at 5:15am check into the hospital and the crew of nurses on call were the same ones that delivered my sister just 10 days before! They did one last ultrasounds to check position and go figure Baby A had moved from transverse to breech so csection it was!
I walk to the OR and DH gowns up. The anesthesiologist comes in to give me my spinal which was where all my nerves were about due to my epidural not fully taking with LO1. I guess I had a small reaction to the spinal because my BP tanked. All I remember from there are people asking me over and over the babies names. DH comes in and keeps asking me questions to keep me awake until the meds worked to get me normal again. He told me later the nurse came in and had him run to the OR. Eek.
Well the spinal worked perfectly. I know it's said you feel pressure or something sitting on your chest but I felt nothing. Baby A came out at 7:50am and Baby B was put at 7:52am.
Baby A is now Oliv.ia Lorr.aine and she was 5lbs 15oz and 19 inches long. Baby B is now Gre.gory Arthur.ur and was 5lbs 13oz.
Since my milk didn't come in till day 2 both lost a lot of weight and both dropped under the 5lbs 4oz threshold of the hospital and required car seat tests to leave. We also started issues with jaundice for both.
Whew! Both pass car seat test and O barely is okay jaundice wise so we all go home on Monday! However Objas to go back next day for labs to check jaundice. She'll continue those all week finally getting to an okay level that Sunday. Since both were low weight babies leaving the hospital (O was 5lbs 4oz and G was 5lbs 6oz at discharge) we were told to start supplementing after each feed to boost weight.
*ill add more later LO1 is waking up babes again...
