When I toured daycares many months ago, I asked the usual questions but it didn't really sink in, and I still don't feel prepared or know what to expect. I need to get another round of questions answered by the daycare itself but I thought it might be helpful to get some ideas here first.
They told me I could bring frozen breast milk. I assume I should label everything with name/date frozen, etc. Anything else? How much do you send in at a time? Do you also send in non-frozen BM? How many bottles do you send?
For cloth diapering, how many do you send in? Will they just keep clean ones they don't use and then I just replenish? Do you send in cloth wipes too?
I assume I should send in a couple changes of clothes (and bibs?), but what else? Burp cloths? (J still spits up a lot...)
I can't remember what they have for storage there... a cubby for each kid? How do you organize the stuff you send in? Do you have to label everything so they don't get mixed up with other kids' stuff?
What else am I missing? I saw that some of you send sleep sacks for naps, which I hadn't thought of...

Pacifiers? How the heck do daycares keep track of all this crap?

I'm no help with the daycare part but maybe one of those things that attaches to the binky and then you hook it onto their pants?
Good luck! It does seem very overwhelming!

Attach pacifier via clip to baby. Label the clip. Certain pacifiers also have space for being labeled.
Send 2 sets of extra clothes, an extra sheet, and extra swaddle/blanket. Label it all.
For bottles, if you have it, as much as they normal eat plus a little extra. I'm no help on the BM portion, but I send 4 bottles to them with the expectation that he eats 3. There are days he will take the 4th. I send in extra burp clothes.
The bottles are stored in the fridge. Diapers in a bin under the changing table, clothes changes are in separate bin. His spare sheets and blankets go in his cubby along with the bottle transport cooler
Some teachers will keep the diapers and use them the next day. I send 8 per day of NB cloth (they usually use 5-6), 5 of OS (normal use is 3-4). The pods I carry them in are labeled, but we're the only family that cloths.
Label everything. Everything.

Like cmb said, label everything. For extra clothing, some day area have a required number of extra sets to have on hand. I think when DD was in the baby room, it was 4 extra. They had us put them in a large ziploc bag with her name on it. All kids had a cubbie where their stuff was kept. As for pacifiers, definitely label. Also, a lot of day cares have a "no pacifier" rule (for hygienic reasons). DD's daycare let new children have them for the first 12 weeks they're there and they try to wean them off during that time.

I would cut a bitch if they took a pacifier away. Seriously. I can take away a pacifier when my kids turn one. I can't take away their hands when they turn to thumb sucking

If your kid has a blocked tear duct, get a doctor's note for it. They'll be sent home constantly for suspected pink eye if there's no note about it.
Some daycares have a rule of "once it touches babies mouth, we dump the bottle an hour later" ..
You definitely want at least two outfit changes available on any day. We've had days where they used both

You also need to check your state laws on cloth diapers- each state has its own requirements on what daycares can accept

Thanks guys! I just realized there is a handbook that answers some of my questions. It says to bring one or two bottles... so do they wash after each feeding? sleepymonkey no pacifier for hygienic reasons, because they get dropped a lot? Interesting. The handbook says that you can send in pacifiers. J isn't super into pacifiers but it does help him fall asleep sometimes. cmb I did check to make sure they allow cloth diapers. What do you do for wipes?

I'm going to ask the daycare for a punch list of everything we'll need... I'm sure they'll love that. I'll have to ask the pacifier question. Also, any recommendations for labels? I think I get a discount on Mabel's Labels through the multiples club or should I just use a Sharpie where I can?

My daycare provides formula. You can send in breast milk or your own formula if different than what they provide. Is that not common?

I have a bottle or two of 8oz RTF and spare bottles stashed so if he ever runs out. Some daycares rather you portion it out and they mix it. Ours requires it to be mixed for them. They store all the bottles in the fridge. My kid is the only one who takes cold bottles, though

I just looked through our packet and I don't see any specifics other than we need to provide our own. But I did find their nap schedule so I have something to work towards!
