river OMG no to visiting with a few minutes' notice! I can't believe you've put up with multiple of those visits already, and with twins!

3rd night in a row that DS has gone to sleep at 7:30pm. I'm hoping this means he's settling in to a reasonable (for us) bedtime. I really want to get in to a routine because I think it will help all four of us.

river I hate pop-ins too, though it doesn't happen much anymore. When DS was only a few weeks old, my 19 year old brother stopped by with my permission. A female friend of his picked him up for lunch from my house, and when they got done, they BOTH popped in without a heads up. I was literally in my bra and had to run to get my robe on as they were walking up to the door. Luckily, I heard them park. OMG I was so pissed. I think his friend believes I hate her now. I'm sure this is FTM anxiety, but I have trouble napping in another room with the monitor. I tend to hear phantom cries. I do my best napping when someone else is at the house to monitor things while I sleep.

FFFC: I let DS2 nap in the swing in the living room while I shower. We've also let him sleep in it while we slept without a monitor. We're in a one floor apartment though Is the swing/shower bad? I'm all about self-care, whether showers or naps. Our stupid monitor broke, so we were been without one for the last two days. The replacement is set up now, thankfully. I don't see an issue with it, but then again, I do it. He'll escalate his crying if he needs me and I don't respond right away. We have a camera in the living room as well, but it's currently disconnected from the parent unit Turning down/off the monitor is actually the way we sleep trained DS1- he could fuss it out and we wouldn't hear it, but if he was crying and needing something, we would respond.

I can't have him in our room at night because he's so noisy and wakes me up constantly

We're moving them into their room as soon as we get black out curtains and I can't wait. I sleep with the monitor less then a foot from my face. They make lots of noises - no cries, just grunts and babbles - settling after their 4 am feed, so I'm looking forward to being able to separate from that a bit.

J hasn't let us put him down to sleep anywhere all week for any significant amount of time, day or night. ðŸ˜

The first night he went into the crib alone I had the monitor on full brightness right in my face. You'll get more calm about it as time goes on.

river MIL does the drop in as well. DHs grandma lives 1 mile from us so she'll call us while she's over there and say she is going to drop by. Last time she had SIL and SILs BF with her. DS had just fallen asleep after not sleeping that night so I didn't pass the baby around. MIL always tries to wake DS up to interact with her...I told DH sorry not sorry I'm not waking up the baby who needs to sleep just for her enjoyment so she can leave us with a screaming tired baby in 20 min.

The last time she woke him he started crying so he got handed back to me and she left... I've learned my lesson. MIL only gets to hold him when he's awake lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

txcatlady we'll see how the visit goes. She's always late, and they're going to bed at their normal time whether she likes it or not. And no, MIL, you cannot participate in our bedtime routine because I don't want them overstimulated.

piratecat, that's rough. I'm sorry he won't let you put him down. Is he in the middle of a leap?
