TTMA cereal for reflux. Does it help keep the spitting up to a minimum? DS is on reflux meds so they help with the pain associated with the spit up but he is still just constantly gurgling and spitting up. I feel bad for him. ETA: I was going to skip the cereal all together this time but if it'll help with reflux... I don't know much about it. But pedi said it basically sits heavier in the stomach. They do give it to babies in their bottles in the NICU if their reflux is really bad and meds aren't helping much. Once again- I don't know THAT much about it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We're doing the same thing we did with J and waiting until 6 months to introduce any solids. We did a combo of BLW and purees with J. We started with purees, which she loved. Sometimes I'd just put a pile of puree on her highchair and let her have at it with her hands. Or I'd give her chunks of stuff to play with. I loved watching that chunky, smiling, naked (only in a diaper) baby playing with food and making a mess! It's so fun to see them explore something new.
I may buy some baby oatmeal just to introduce a different texture. We're skipping cereal all together.
Frankly, any food before a year is for fun anyway. Baby is getting his/her nutrients from formula or BM.

Cereal didn't seem to help DD1 with reflux, it just gave her more solid puke 😐

Hmm. I think we will wait to offer anything (or even start thinking about it) until L can sit up on his own. Can anyone's baby sit up yet? I feel like they are still newborns! loves2shop4shoes yum. BLT.

What are you guys doing about peanut butter? I think the recommendations have changed since I had DS.

What are you guys doing about peanut butter? I think the recommendations have changed since I had DS. DS1 is allergic (for real) to peanuts (and hazelnuts). Like bad, so our house is peanut free, however, we are hoping to avoid DS2 being allergic to. We introduced peanut to DS1 before 6 months and he was still allergic. So the allergist told us to introduce it to DS2 at 4 months pending he doesn't show any other signs of allergies like eczema. So we will water a tablespoon of peanut butter down and spoon it into his mouth a couple times a week and hope for the best. I feel anxious about it, and I'm not looking forward to the cleaning up that will have to occur so DS1 doesn't come in contact with it, but it would also be nice to only have to worry about one kid not two in regards to peanuts.

BLT. Sitting up on their own is an important milestone that, yes, should be reached before starting food. My kiddo (the youngest of the bunch by far) won't even pick his head up during tummy time (he's lazy). The idea of him sitting alone right now makes me laugh.

wildflower good to know I'm not the only one with a totally horizontal baby! I tried sitting him up (out of curiosity after reading that people were already thinking about solids) and he flopped right right over and drooled a bit. I think DS1 started sitting up around 5-6 months?

How are we discussing this already?!
Our pedi said the girls would let us know when they are ready and that they would literally yell at us when we eat?
We are thinking about skipping cereal and oatmeal since she said we would basically start with that for a couple of days and move to purees. Doesn't seem worth it. Then I was thinking to do some BLW at around 9 months or so? Or maybe a bit before then depending on teeth.

B can sit in a bumbo type seat (he's the oldest of our F'17 bunch though). We also have one of those seats that attaches to the table and he's okay in that if I prop him up a bit with a rolled towel.
My pedis office said that in addition to sitting (with a little help), they should have lost the reflex of pushing stuff out of their mouths automatically with their tongue and also be actively interested in watching you eat.
We'll be introducing peanut butter early with other foods.
The only thing we'll hold off on is milk and honey.

I think we had to prop DS1, when we started. He could sit up for short periods of time but didn't have the coordination for sitting and trying to put food in his mouth at the same time. We used a towel in the high chair to keep him up right. on a side note, I'm hoping we won't have to get a second high chair. DS1 hates the booster and wiggles too much to just sit in a chair at the table. He is also pretty attached to his high chair weirdly enough.

Do you guys make your own purees? If so, what do you use to make them?

Do you guys make your own purees? If so, what do you use to make them? Steamed butternut squash, carrots, peas, green beans, sweet potato. Apple sauce, pears, mashed avocado, banana. Stuff like that. I bought silicone ice cube molds and would freeze cubes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
